FPGA Centric SDR System

Software Defined Radio is quite spread technology specialty present in number of markets: from classics telecommunications, over video and audio broadcast, to some specific measurements or radar systems.

Project Scope

Software Defined Radio is quite spread technology specialty present in number of markets: from classics telecommunications, over video and audio broadcast, to some specific measurements or radar systems. Its importance is growing over the years and is likely to gain even more importance as a massive proliferation of radio technologies, even to wireless charging is gaining more and more market momentum. A system that supports quick prototyping techniques in software defined radio is very much needed and can decrease time to market in developing new radios.

Solution

Bitgear has developed a PCI based, Spartan3ADSP, 4 125Mbps ADC DAC channels software defined radio system making it possible to quickly prototype digital radio technologies. The card has been used in number of SDR applications and has shown to have excellent performances. It can be easily integrated into more complex SDR systems, due to its form factor and fact that a simple cable interface allows for various RF front ends to be added.
