Motion of human body has ever since been an interesting area of study. The specific forces that a human can create or sustain, especially if coupled with other external factors, such as motivation, team or personal spirit and similar, have always been surprising and even fascinating. In sports these abilities are required and separate a fully trained and prepared sportsman or sportswoman from a person that needs improvements. Thus, if capable of classifying some of these virtues, one could tune the performance of every individual and even more of a team to produce best results and ensure maximum fitness when needed.

Solution

To serve a purpose of classifying the performance of sportists Bitgear designs wearable devices capable of tracking key body motion parameters and presenting them in a way useful for their coaches, ultimately enabling them to tune the training intensities and overall team fitness.
The solution is typically based around CortexM4 signal processor or similar, 10Hz GNSS receiver and 9 axes inertial IMU (inertial measurement unit) based on MEMS sensors. Bitgear has developed a family of algorithms that allow for measurements of peak performance parameters inclusive of body forces to take place. This includes: area covered and steps made parameters, changes of direction, classification of movement intensity and other related. The aim is to come up with a system for outdoor team sports that would allow for full awareness of all the relevant parameters as a tool for team coaches and strategists. This said, the algorithms are continuously improved, while the coupling with emerging smart balls could result in brilliant coaching assistant systems.
